Here is where I keep the fics.
Fics are listed by fandom in reverse chronological order, for the most part. In short, the further you get down the list, the greater your risk. I linked mostly to LJ; if you don't see a link it's over at my FF.net account. A smaller number of my fics are on AO3 too.

So the last time I did a Big Bang (like 3 weeks ago) I ended up with 130k and it was a tremendous effort and pretty stressful toward the end, and I said I don't want to do Big Bangs anymore (even though I'm extremely pleased with the outcome).

So I signed up for the Person of Interest summer bang.

And now I'm eying [info]dcu_bang.

Because it's only 10k and it can be a crossover, and I've been psyching myself up to write Wayne/Stark for a while now.

10k is not that bad at all, I can crank that out in a weekend if I have to. It could literally be all porn if I wanted. That's not bad, right!? You'd read that, wouldn't you!?

Some part of me still feels bad about bailing on the X-men bang last year...

OH FUCK I just checked tumblr while writing this entry and there's a Marvel bang with the same schedule, wtf. Which do I enter!?

*writes the fic from both perspectives and enters both is that legal??*

Shit if it's a Marvel Bang I can do that X-men one after all........ gdi It was going to be Charles Xavier/Hannibal Lector

What is my brain.

Today I'm heading out to my local Comic Convention, and then going to The Avengers again! I'm really looking forward to it, now that it's been a while since the first time, and I feel like I can actually focus on what's going on, lol. Seeing it the first time was such a strange experience. It's been a long time since I went into a movie with so much anticipation, and knowing that I had to post my Big Bang the next day, I was kind of a nervous wreck to be honest. Which is so dumb, really, when you're talking about going to see a movie, but having written over 100k of fic practically blind, being faced with the possibility that canon is about to invalidate all that work (and no one will freaking read it! Or worse yet, read and be disappointed it's so OOC) is really stressful!

Thankfully, the fic has gotten some really great reviews and over a 100 kudos, which is a first for me :D MISSION: Get Everyone To Like Hammer seems to have been a great success! Even the horribly ambiguous ending has gone over well, which was a big concern of mine. I knew it was the right choice, but it's a risk to ask someone to read a fic that long and then not deliver a satisfying conclusion. So far no complaints!

And now that it's behind me, I feel like I really need to see the movie again without the filter of "oh god is this good or bad for my fic!?" clouding my judgment. So I might finally have some proper movie commentary when I come back. And then I'm going to work on and hopefully finish my Coulson fic which is killing me in my soul to write but I'm doing it anyway.

Oh Avengers, how did it happen that you've become my main fandom, I don't even know.

Fandom: The Avengers (movieverse)
Title: Every Judas Loved His Jesus
Author: [info]croik
Artist: [info]made_of_tin
Rating: NC-17 for sex and violence
Word Count: 130,000
Type: AU (romance, action, angst)
Characters/Pairings: Loki/Steve, most of the Avengers and then some
Warnings: Dub/non-con, mpreg, genderswap, child endangerment, character death (Justin Hammer and some OCs)
Summary:

This is not a story of how Loki and Steve fall in love. This is Loki and Steve, abandoned in a world they didn't ask for, alone, with nothing to connect them to any thing or person on the planet except for the one thing they have in common: Loki's blood, a Jotun's blood, that once served as the basis for Dr. Erskine's miraculous super-soldier serum and protected Steve through seventy years of ice. This is Loki, hiding his weakness and uncertainty with every lie at his disposal, desperate for purpose, and Steve, just naive enough to fall for the smile of a beautiful woman. It's not love, but it's a lie worth fighting for, up until Loki ends up pregnant, devastates SHIELD headquarters, and makes off with the Tesseract, determined to make his child Midgard's new god. As the tentative captain of Earth's not-yet-mighty Avengers, Steve choses the side of humanity, without giving up hope that he can save Loki from himself and the too-powerful magic of Odin's lost treasure.

Fic on AO3: HERE
Art by Made of Tin: HERE

Notes: Many thanks to my artists, [info]made_of_tin for their stunning artwork! I love it so much, make sure you give them feedback <3 Thanks also to my betas [info]tanithkitty and [info]eustacia_vye28 for sticking with me through this fic.

Since this was for The Avengers Big Bang Challenge ([info]avengers_bang) I wrote the entire thing before seeing the movie, so I had to invent a whole lot of details concerning how SHIELD operates, what the Tesseract is capable of, etc, which have been totally Jossed. BUT that's what AU is for. I hope you can overlook my fudging and enjoy the fic! All comments welcome and appreciated.

Over the course of this weekend, I've written 17,000 words on my Avenger Big Bang.

That's...more than the min word count alone!?

The entire fic is 123,000 words, 4k short of The Helix Trap, which was previously my longest fanfic. And I still have one more chapter to finish.

And the movie has already jossed ALL OF IT.

What. Is. This.

I saw the new DMC trailer the other day, but I was with my male gaming friend and didn't feel like I could properly rant about it at the time, so here it is.

The new trailer has some kind of news announcer declaring Tameem Dante a "terrorist" and a "SEXUAL DEVIANT."

What the fuck does that mean?

Okay, so is new Dante some kind of rapist? Is he just a slut into some kinky shit, maybe leather and bondage (far removed from his new hipster costume afaic)? Does he engage in unprotected sex? Or is he just gay? Are we seriously going there? Is this offhanded comment from an asshole commentator part of the plot? Part of new Dante's character? Don't get me wrong, to label Dante as gay would be a whole new level of incredible, in a variety of ways, but it would be the stamp of death for an already controversial game. Or does it mean nothing? Is the game going to have some kind of over-arching morality police? Is there some kind of religious establishment in charge or among the enemies, tossing out stock accusations just for the sake of highlighting their villainy to the player? Or worse yet, is it only going to be brought up so that Dante can go out of his way to declare he's not an immoral sexual deviant?

Every news site that's posted the trailer has broadcasted the fact that Dante is now being described this way, but I can't find anywhere that's talking about what it actually means, or what it could mean for the game itself. Other than the fact that Dante flies around naked for a few seconds.

Capcom, I just....don't know anymore. What are you doing anymore. Seriously. What.

AvengerBang summaries are almost due and in order to get anyone to look past my pairing/warnings, I need one that is killa. So if you have a minute, FList of mine, will you please read the following summaries and give your opinion on which sounds better? Which one you'd rather read/do art for as part of a bang? Or would, if you were into this sort of thing? (This is for claims, so should it be more detailed than a normal summary? I dunno!) Also, fucking titles, how do they work.

Thank you in advance <3

Clicky click clickity )

I could also use another beta, or just someone to read over my progress and give me their thoughts, if anyone's interested...?

Auughhhh this might be the last time I do a Bang, these things are killing me.

Anyone left who still thinks that video games can't, or better yet, aren't currently art, can go fuck themselves.

I got Journey early thanks to being a PS+ member, and so far I've beaten it twice. Like any review will tell you, it's gorgeous, inventive, haunting, emotional, fun--and it manages to be all those things while remaining almost painfully simple and barely two hours long. The story is incredibly vague and the ending open to all sorts of interpretations (all of them heart-breaking), but it's still incredibly satisfying. If you condensed all the game's lovely moments into a short film it would already be breath-taking, but the fact that it's a game, that you the player is marching your avatar across the wasteland, makes everything so much more meaningful. I don't want to spoil the whole damn thing but in the short time I've been playing the game, I've gained some of my most emotional experiences in gaming. If that's not art I don't know what is.

And strangely enough, I realized it has a lot in common with the last full price game I bought and finished: Asura's Wrath. Sure they are the opposite of the stylistic spectrum (robe-thing vs nature, cyborg demi-god vs space-army) but both games are 100% committed to engaging the player emotionally. Just like Journey doesn't work unless you lose yourself a little in its spiritual side, Asura doesn't work if your reaction to punching planets in their faces isn't "FUCK YEAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!" And arguably, both games make sacrifices to the detriment of their gameplay in order to give you that emotional payoff. It's much less concerned with technical perfection than it is inspiring feeling in its player. And that's why the gaming industry is only going to expand: a great game can give you everything a great movie can, and make you feel more connected by letting it hinge on your actions. Anyone who's watched a horror movie vs played a horror game probably knows just what I mean.

And by the way, Asura's Wrath is freaking awesome. Every time I hit a "perfect" I wish I could punch through a building. Which is about the opposite feeling I get from playing Journey, but they are both equally mind-expanding.

So I guess what I'm really saying is... play more video games. Seriously.
